Quick hits: I actually gave this book 4 stars because I am not completely aboard with the organization. It required somewhat too much going back and forth between the workouts in my brain. I dont have an instant suggestion for how to do it better, but something more logical would work better for me. Also REALLY wish it was offered in print out. Preferably something spiral bound. I would make use of it frequently.
If you are reading this review you need to understand that this book is not a simple 5 minute yahoo workout plan. This is something that gives you templates that you build especially for what your goals are. That means that whatever it is that you are planning to do, you take those tools and workouts that are provided and plug them into the template. If you stay with it you get results. I played for real and did the entire conditioning protocol. I feel that I actually was extremely well prepared for the spartan run that I prepped for. I actually like it enough to where Let me continue on the workout platform and go down the environmentally friendly conditioning path.
If you are simply buying do this whack a gopher style I dont think this book is for you. There exists a template that is a law enforcement example, but to myself that didn't fit the bill of what I actually wished to do.
Other information: I really enjoyed the authors no BS kind of approach. Its not flowery, but it felt very real to me. I actually found that refreshing. I actually dont regret spending the on it. I'll keep using it., I actually have rebuilt my program around these principles and am seeing the results I aim for as a soldier and not a bodybuilder., I began with Tactical Barbell one and then found Technical Barbell 2. Together they form a great training program that fits you my life and has helped myself become more powerful and faster than I was in my forties or 30s. TB 2 offers a program to get in condition, called base building, and then a few variants for how to stay in condition by combining conditioning with the strength programs from TB 1.
The fitness program lays out precisely how much conditioning to do every week, and how to combine that up between high-intensity interval training, aerobic training, and anaerobic training. This provides a long set of conditioning routines that can be used with this software.
I've run 5ks and a Tough Mudder before starting this program, but my run times have improved significantly since i have started subsequent this program and combining it with the skills training I was doing with TB 1.
If most likely just getting started, I actually would get both books and start with the Basebuilding from TB2. You'll find yourself progressing quickly and you will like the results that you observe and the enhancements to how you feel., This book is wonderful! It is far from confusing like a lot of other work out books filled with a bunch of fluff information..
This guide is straight to the point and a fairly easy read. If you desire a basic understanding of work out programs I recommend this and Tactical barbell 2., Fantastic. Principle based training that allows you to improve your own fitness program using the construction K. Black has laid out. It works effortlessly with the strength training of the first volume level, but also plainly lies out how you can implement the conditioning protocols into any good strength training plan. I wish I actually had this information 20 years ago., The guide gave me pointers to work around my bad knees.
