American Truckers At War

The American Trucking Association has abandoned the American trucker they are theoretically representing and joined the AlGore Chuch of Global Warming. Their proposals to cut fuel consumption and “carbon dioxide emissions” are:

Limit the speed of new trucks to 68 mph and reduce the national speed limit to 65 mph for all vehicles.

Reduce engine idling.

Increase fuel efficiency through participation in an Environmental Protection Agency partnership program.

Ease congestion by improving the nation’s highways, through a fuel tax increase if necessary.

Use more productive truck combinations.

Support national fuel-economy standards for trucks.

They apparently cannot get anyone in Washington to back their plan to reduce the speed limit. The ATA has not learned from past history and are doomed to repeat it. We’ve been there, done that.
